I have an itouch and got an app called textnow where you can “release” the number and i guess you can get a new one, but either way nobody would be able to contact with you with it anymore i think, is this like the pay as you go phone and is it therefore safe to give this out online. I would release it if weird stuff started happening.

I will have to agree and disagree with all of you.
I have chatted online with many men that say they are not married, they do not smoke or that they do no have kids. When we spoke on the phone, it is amazing what this reveals. I heard kids screaming in the background and a wife calling him to take care of the kids. I heard excessive coughing and terrible breathing. All to find out they were lying. There are ways to share information. I use a land line that does not take messages and can block callers. I have never been harassed.

I think you should always have a spare phone/sim & a seperate email account when you’re first handing them out. If things progress further and you then become comfortable with the person you have met you can always give them your main details.

Agree with you, that is where a second mobile comes into play. You can pick up an old mobile for a few pounds and a pay as you go number is pennies, it means you can simply close the account if someone bothers you but you don’t have the hassle of telling your friends and family your new number.
