In answer to the first question I think none of them really apply to the concept of a cougar. I feel a ‘cougar’ is simply a confident women who, for whatever reason, is sexually or physically attracted to younger men.

To be honest I am really surprised this isn’t MORE mainstream. There isn’t usually a word or phrase connected with a man looking for a younger lady (well there’s is but I am sure I can’t print them ) but as much as a man likes to go for younger women, why can’t a women go for a younger male?

If the relationship turns in to just that and romance and love come in to the equation then age really doesn’t matter and why should it. It’s a connection and emotions to the person, not the number associated to the person.

On the other hand if a cougars preference is purely sexual why not go for younger potentially fitter male for this side of things. It shows women are becoming more confident, more forthright and will go for what they want – not be tied down to a society that expects something else.

Just happened to come upon this page while surfing the web for online cougar material. I totally agree with the author. I think cougar women dating younger is no longer a jaw dropping phenomena, it is just one of the side streams if not mainstream and no one should be raising eyebrows anymore. In fact I was convinced enough to even invest some time on my site for this.

If two people love each other and can make it work, age shouldn’t matter. And what other people think doesn’t matter either. After all, it is tough to find a good relationship. It seems crazy to throw one away because of a few years age difference one way or the other. The only potential problem I can see for older women/younger men is if she already has kids and he wants to have his own. If this is not an issue, I say fly high and have fun!

If you are old enough to fall in love and make your own decisions then you are old enough to decide who is right for you. One of my good friends married a man 14 years younger than her and they have been happily married for over 15 years now. I am two years older than my husband of 34 years – not a lot but still older.

I wish it was true that older women marrying younger men is no longer looked on with awe Anamika but as you say yourself they have in recent years been given the name cougars .. this in itself shows it is not yet “acceptable”.
