3 simple steps to remove dog and pet hairs from furniture

Getting dog and other pet hairs out of the furniture can be such fun, we try vacuum cleaners, brushes, sponges, sellotape and can even buy sticky sheets for this purpose but nothing works really well.

If your home is anything like our farmhouse then the dogs get the best seats in the house, the cat has the chair by the fire, guests dare not wear black and we have the joy of cleaning up all the leftover hairs.

Getting pet hairs off the soft furnishings is so easy when you know how, here are 3 simple steps:

1. Vacuum or brush the worst of the hairs off.

2. Get a bowl of warm water and put on a pair of rubber gloves.

3. Dampen the gloves (they should be damp not wet) and simply draw them across the fabric.

This should remove all the pet hairs without fighting to find the end of the roll of sellotape. Rubber gloves with dimples or raised lines will work best and your fingers can get into all the places your vacuum can’t.

This also works in the car, on carpets and on clothing.

If you have a deep pile rug then buy a rubber bristled attachment for your vacuum, the static electricity will make a much better job of getting the hairs out than a nylon bristled brush.

Great info there, have tried them all but recently discovered the zoom groom a rubber grooming brush for dogs. It is also great for getting dog hair of the sofa and stairs etc. using the flat side of the Zoom. Also Crocs are good too!
